State Police Arrest Lewes Man Following Shooting on Hopkins Road in Lewes

The Delaware State Police have arrested 41-year-old Kenneth Drummond, of Lewes, Delaware, for felony offenses and a 47-year-old man from Lewes, Delaware, for violating a no-contact order following a fight and shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Hopkins Road in Lewes.
On August 12, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m., troopers responded to a residence in the 20000 block of Hopkins Road for a report of shots fired following a fight between two men. Troopers arrived and spoke to several people at the scene, including Drummond. A short time later, troopers were dispatched to a residence on Kendale Road for a report of 47-year-old man who had been shot in the foot. Troopers determined the two incidents were related.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed the 47-year-old man was on Drummond’s property, in violation of a court-issued No Contact Order, and the two engaged in a physical altercation. After the initial altercation, Drummond learned that the 47-year-old man was still on his property near the end of the driveway. Drummond then drove to the area and fired multiple rounds from a handgun in the direction of the man. The man was struck in the foot.
Drummond was arrested and taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released on a $40,000 unsecured bond.

- Assault 1st Degree – Intentional Serious Injury-Weapon Dangerous Instrument (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
The 47-year-old man was taken to an area hospital for his injuries, and after being released, he was charged with breach of release and released on an unsecured bond.
