State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Laurel

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Saturday night in Laurel.
On August 15, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a Toyota Camry was traveling southbound, in the right lane, on Sussex Highway approaching Oasis Drive. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking westbound, in the right lane, of southbound Sussex Highway when he was struck by the Toyota.
The pedestrian, a 41-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The driver of the Toyota, a 21-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was not injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Investigators are asking anyone with video footage or information relevant to the crash to contact Master Corporal K. Argo at (302) 703-3264.
