State Police Investigating Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash Near Bridgeville

The Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Friday afternoon near Bridgeville.
On September 11, 2026, at approximately 12:40 p.m., a Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on Seashore Highway approaching Oak Road. At the same time, a Peterbilt dump truck was traveling westbound on Seashore Highway approaching Oak Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Camry entered the westbound lane of travel and into the path of the Peterbilt. As a result, the front of the Camry struck the front of the Peterbilt and after the collision, the Peterbilt became fully engulfed in fire. A third vehicle, a Peterbilt tractor and a loaded car trailer that was traveling behind the dump truck, avoided the collision, and entered a ditch.
The driver of the Camry, a 19-year-old man from Millsboro, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, a 23-year-old woman from Honduras, was taken to an area hospital where she died. Their names are being withheld until their families are notified.
The driver of the Peterbilt, a 58-year-old man from Ridgely, Maryland, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Peterbilt tractor and car trailer was not injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately 5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Investigators are asking anyone with video footage or information relevant to the crash to contact Master Corporal K. Argo at (302) 703-3264.
