DEC Announces Draft Unit Management Plan for Little Pond Campground and Day-Use Area in Delaware County is Available for Public Review

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced that a draft Unit Management Plan (UMP) for Little Pond Campground and Day-Use Area, located in Delaware County, is now available for public review. The public is invited to submit input on the draft plan, which will guide future management of the facility over the next 10 years.  

The Little Pond Campground is located on Barkaboom Road, Andes, Delaware County, 14 miles north of the hamlet of Livingston Manor. Amenities include waterfront sites, hot showers, flush toilets, trailer dumping station, an unsupervised swimming area, and hiking opportunities. 

The draft plan for the Little Pond Campground and Day-Use Area can be viewed and downloaded from DEC's website. 

Copies are also available in electronic format and may be requested by calling (518) 457-6252.  

The draft UMP proposes the following management activities: 

  • Reconfigure ticket booth area entrance, parking, and exit 

  • Replace all bathrooms  

  • Add Adirondack lean-tos to select remote sites  

  • Add remote sites 

  • Expand existing remote parking area 

  • Rehabilitate campground roads  

  • Replace water lines  

  • Add parking by playground 

  • Repurpose current Nature Center into Day Use Area 

  • Add volleyball net and disc golf course  

  • Install backup generator  

  • Campsite restoration

In addition, the public can visit the Little Pond Campground and Day-Use Area Survey to share comments on recreational opportunities. Survey Responses will be accepted until November 9, 2026.
